Motherland Inspirations
About Us
Motherland Inspirations was founded by Patsy Matthews, a self-taught jewelry designer and craft artist. Every piece she creates is handmade and deeply inspired by African culture, incorporating traditional symbols such as the Ankh, Adinkra motifs, and African fabrics. Patsy also designs symbolic jewelry featuring crosses, Trees of Life, and other meaningful elements. Her materials of choice—copper and brass wire—not only enhance the beauty of her pieces but are also believed to carry beneficial health properties.
In addition to her jewelry, Patsy crafts African-inspired ornaments and accessories, all made with the same attention to symbolism, story, and skill.
Motherland Inspirations is also home to an urban garden co-managed by Zane and Patsy Matthews. Located at their home in Lexington, NC, the garden is dedicated to growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers using sustainable methods and minimal chemical inputs.
