Membership Benefits for Vendors

  • Sell at Multiple Locations throughout the Week

Members can now vend at multiple locations: The historic Depot in Lexington’s Depot District on Saturday mornings May - October plus two holiday markets; Parkway Plaza Farmers Market on Wednesday mornings Spring- Fall; Davidson County Winter Market @ Bull City Ciderworks on the first & third Saturday afternoons January - April; additional pop-up market locations throughout the year.

  • Accept SNAP EBT and Double Your Dollars with No Additional Fees

Instead of having individual farmers and food producers bear the cost of accepting SNAP EBT, the Lexington Farmers Market covers all fees.

Customers swipe their SNAP EBT card and the market manager provides the customer with tokens valued at double the amount (e.g., they swipe $20 off the EBT card and get $40 worth of tokens to spend at the market). Vendors then cash in those tokens with the market manager for full value. Participating vendors will receive signs for their booths.

  • Daily Rental and Season Pass Discounts

Members receive significant discounts on space rentals at all locations and may purchase season passes, saving even more.

Season passes at the Depot allow you to leave your booth setup throughout the season. You’ll also save 50-66% depending on the space purchased.

Season pass holders at other locations get first choice of setup locations each week and save 25% on rental fees.

Daily rentals are $15 for members instead of $25 for non-members at the Depot.

  • Free Directory Listings in Print and Online

All members will receive a complimentary directory listing in each edition of the Davidson County Local Food Guide, a full-color magazine published three times a year and distributed throughout Davidson County.

Members also receive a complimentary listing on both LexingtonFarmersMarketNC.com and DavidsonCountyFood.com.

  • Free Email, Social Media, and PR Support

We frequently share content from and about our members on our social media accounts and via our weekly email newsletter. This includes sharing content from your pages, highlighting vendors and products throughout the season, being in Facebook Lives during market hours, features in The Dispatch, Davidson Local, and more.

  • Connecting You with New Customers

The Lexington Farmers Market is committed to expanding and diversifying its customer base to include residents of all ages, income levels, and races/ethnicities, creating a sustainable base of customers for you.

In the 2023 and 2024 seasons, we will be using USDA grant funds to pay for billboard advertising around Lexington to expand our outreach even further.

  • Spotlighting You During Special Events and Demos

We host numerous events during the year, including cooking and craft demonstrations, educational events, cooking contests, family and farm-oriented games, and more. Vendors who assist in events, donate products, host demonstrations or otherwise help out receive additional recognition through email, social media, and press releases.

  • E-Commerce Support for Your Business

Selected farmers and meat producers are eligible to receive e-commerce support through our USDA grant in 2023 and 2024. This support includes a free annual membership with Piedmont Fresh, our online local food hub or direct support in establishing e-commerce on your own website.

  • Right to Vote and Add Your Voice to Important Discussions

We are a membership organization, so that means you get to vote on the board of directors and important policy changes.

You also have multiple opportunities to formally share your opinions at meetings and via surveys. The board of directors and market staff take all feedback from members to heart.

  • Ability to Offer Pre-Order Pickups to Customers

You may drop off items with the Market Manager for customers to pick up at the Depot, even on Saturdays when you are not vending inside. During health emergencies such as the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, as an “essential business,” we also can remain open and operate a Drive-Through Pick-Up lane for customers.

  • Earn Points Toward Favored Space Selection at the Depot

Members earn points for contributing to the health and prosperity of the Lexington Farmers Market in numerous ways over the course of the year. These points then determine the order in which Season Pass spaces are selected. While seniority does give you points, new vendors can sell ads for the Local Food Guide to quickly rack up points and move up the list more quickly. We do not track points for non-members.

  • Additional Training and Support Throughout the Year

We provide additional training on marketing, merchandising, food safety, and more for our members each year at no charge.
